By accessing or using Footnote / Footnote Cards (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Footnote is a web-based application that allows users to create accounts and upload, display, and manage content, including portfolio-style materials. Some features may require a paid Pro subscription.

3. Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain the security of your login credentials
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. User Content

Ownership

You retain full ownership of any content you upload, submit, or display through the Service ("User Content").

License

By uploading User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service.

Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have all necessary rights to upload and share it. You agree not to upload content that is illegal, infringing, abusive, or violates applicable laws or third-party rights.

Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove User Content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable, at our discretion.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

  • Paid Pro subscriptions are processed through Stripe.
  • We do not store payment card details.
  • Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • Pricing and features may change with reasonable notice.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful purposes
  • Attempt to disrupt or compromise the Service
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service
  • Use the Service to harm others or violate their rights

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, and functionality, is owned by Brian Petzke and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for User Content, nothing in the Service may be copied or reused without permission.

8. Termination

  • You may stop using the Service at any time.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service.

9. Disclaimer

  • The Service is provided "as is" and "as available."
  • We make no guarantees regarding availability, reliability, or suitability for any particular purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Footnote / Footnote Cards shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
